I have a son, Dean Patrick, who has Down syndrome and went to heaven before he was born. I have a granddaughter, Petra Elexis, who was born with down syndrome and blessed the lives of hundreds of people before going to be with the Lord. PEOPLE with Down Syndrome are people! Before leaving God's Hands, these prescious innocents are gifted with so much unconditional love to give to us all.
Why are so many refusing God's sweet gifts of love to us? Treasure them as you want to be treasured!
I have a beautiful 9month old daughter, Casey. We found out Casey "probably had Downs Syndrome" and a congenital heart defect @ 22 weeks. I was asked if i wanted to terminate my pregnancy. I said no. I refused the amnio. I was devastated @ first. In the short time she has been with us, she has taught us so much. She has touched so many lives. We are TRUELY BLESSED EVERYDAY. She brings us so much happiness and everyday I am thankful...thankful GOD has blessed us w/our little angel. Casey has 2 older siblings who adore her. I can't imagine my/our life without her. We don't know why GOD has chosen this path for us:, but I'm sure glad Casey is apart of it. Shes the perfect fit.. She does Belong. She has alot to teach us yet and I look foreward to growing with her.
We have 15 month old triplets, one of which has Down Syndrome. She is our pride and joy and brings us such incredible happiness. As scared as we were in the beginning and as dark as the diagnosis felt, we now feel so incredibly privileged and blessed to have been chosen to be her parents. I cannot imagine our lives without her. We want everyone to know that Down Syndrome is not a death sentence or the end of the world for the parents or the child. Down Syndrome children are truly angels sent from heaven to remind us all that there still is goodness in the world. They do belong.
I remember his birth more like a funeral. Now he is my "rock" Raised on books and Disney films. We were asked all the questions, took all the tests when I was expecting my next four children. As time went by I would have considered another child with DS a true blessing. He lives a life of love, compassion, and to the fullest every day. Love them where the are and You will grow withthem.
I am a grandmother about to have a Down Syndrome granddaughter. We are so thrilled and have been getting so much positive feedback. I know we have a long road ahead of us, but we are all ready for the challenges. I loved the video and plan to wathch it often. The poem was great!!! Thanks
Hello, I have a daughter named Ashley. I say that god sends us a gift from heaven and he knows which ones to send us an angel too. I have learned that she is only 4 years old- that she has taught me more in the past few years than I have ever imagined possible please read this poem:
Heaven's Very Special Child
In Loving Memory Of Curtis L. Hendley
Submitted by Leana M. Hendley
A meeting was held quite far from earth,
"It's time again for another birth."
Said the Angels to the Lord above,
"This special child will need much love."
His progress may seem very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show;
And he'll require extra care
From the folks he meets down there.
He may not run or laugh or play.
His thoughts may seem quite far away.
In many ways he won't adapt,
And he'll be known as handicapped.
So let's be careful where he's sent;
We want his life to be content.
Please, Lord, find the Parents who
Will do a special job for You.
They will not realize it right away
The leading role they're asked to play.
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild
Is Heaven's Very Special Child.
This is so touching! I have a gorgeous 17 year old daughter with DS. She is my pride and joy! I wouldn't change a thing about her! It amazes myself and my husband that our daughter has actually taught us so much more about life than we could ever teach her about anything! How incredibly lucky we are to have these angels in our lives! If only people knew what a wonderful life they would have with their child....what a shame to miss out on a miracle! They are truly angels here on earth! Thank you for making my day with this! Cindy
This is a beautiful video. It made me smile to see all those happy faces! Every child and adult I have ever met with Down Syndrome has touched me in a way no other population in the world can... People used to say "I'm sorry" when I told them I had a sister with Down Syndrome. They didn't realize how incredibly blessed I was to have her in my life. She recently passed away, but the love and wisdom she brought into my life will stay with me forever.
I have a daughter with Mosaic Down Syndrome and Triple X syndrome. I did have have an amnio when I was pregnant because I decided I would love this child no matter what. I am so glad I did not have an amnio because they would have encouraged me to abort this child. You see her disorder are so rare that there is probably only about 20 children world wide with both. My daughter is 14 month old. She has scored above average in ever area they have tested her in. She walks, feeds herself, brings me a diaper to change her. She says bye bye, Bob for dog, in the morning I'm up she yells. It would have been terrible not to have her in my life. No person can tell what another person is capable of doing in their life especially before they are born. If I would have had genetic counseling they would have told me horrible things. Nobody would have ever told me about her kisses or hugs, or the smiles she brings to everyone face who meets her or sees her.
This is just beautiful! I just created a montage of my 32 year old son, Scott, who also has Downs Syndrome. He is my blessing in life! We gone thru alot together! His innocense and kind heart are what make him so special! God has blessed all of you in His own way!
Love it!!!!!!! I have three very special people in my life with DS. They have all shared in my life and are all a part of my life!!!! The unknown is what is scarest to people. If more BELONGED then the unkonw would be the norm!!!
God sends his little angels
in many forms and guises,
That come as lovely miracles
that God alone devises-
For He does nothing without purpose,
everythings a perfect plan
To fulfill in bounteous measure
all He ever promised man-
For every little angel
with a body bent or broken
Or a little mind retarded
or little words unspoken,
Is just Gods way of trying
to reach and touch a hand
Of all who do not know Him
and cannot understand
That often through an angel
whose wings may never fly
The Lord is pointing to the Way
of His eternal sky
Where there will be no handicaps
of body, soul or mind,
And where all limitations
will be dropped and left behind-
So accept these little angels
as gifts from God above
And thank Him for This lesson
in faith and hope and love
God delivered my little angel to me 19yrs ago - only proving to me that He knows best! Lori
Inspirational. I don't think everyone is aware of what PEOPLE with Down Syndrome are capable of - not only physically, mentally, socially but also just as important - emotionally, and teaching compassion.
I wish it would reach the right people...like DOCTORS. They need to be targeted with things like this. If they are so highly educated, why don't they know about how children with Down Syndrome are living these days? There are hundreds of children with DS in NJ, all living wonderful, happy, busy, successful lives. :D :D :D It is so hard to believe that people who consider themselves educated can still think the way they do and would actually consider counselling someone into abortion for ANY reason!!!

We have a daughter Emily, 12, who has DS. My husband said something wonderful to me recently. God "ENTRUSTED" us with Emily...we feel lucky to have been blessed with her care, hand-chosen by God. Now, I knew this as soon as she was born...but it is a lovely thought to be reminded of every now and then. Emily is very smart, ornery, a great reader, stubborn, funny (and she KNOWS it!) she's an amazing swimmer and also quite pretty, if I do say so! ;) But to know that Got picked ME to be her mother and Paul to be her father fills us with pride and humility at the same time. :D I LOVE this video...keep it going! What a great message! My son is my life. His personality is infectious. He makes people smile--even strangers. Thank you God for sending me an angel! All those with DS BELONG!--Lisa

Congratulations to all you parents who have a DS child - you have amazing courage and should be very proud of yourselves, your families and your gift from God.
I really liked what Tricia said 'He is a light is this crazy world...' where we often forget to stop and enjly and appreciate who we have around us. Also what Caroline said - 'human being w/ strengths & weaknessws like the rest of us in the world' - how true!!!
And Barb says it - if we don't stand up NOW who will be next...
Really YOU ALLl said something moving and profound!!!
What a moving montage!
This is just what we parents here in the USA have been saying, you only have to meet our children to decide that having a child with Down syndrome is a blessing, NOT a disaster!
What a WONDERFUL piece of artwork!! I am the mother of a beautiful 7 year old little girl. She is the strongest, bravest person I have ever known. While she might not be able to do some things that we typically expect of children her age, she exceeds some typical children in other wonderful ways. Thank you!!
This message must be seen and heard around the world!!!!!! How can we get this heard? I have a wonderful boy with DS. He is a light in this crazy world of ours. Our children should be anything but silenced. What a wonderful film. Thank you!
What a beautiful statement!! I have an amazing 4yr old daughter - she's an amazing child, sister, human being w/ strengths & weaknesses like the rest of us in the world. I'm disgusted w/ so much prenatal testing that is being done - simply for the discovery of DS. Thank you for such an amazing video w/ an amazing song.
This is a beautiful video with a very serious message. Today, the prenatal tests are targeting the downs kids but tomorrow, it will be something else. Which of us is genetically perfect?
This is so beautifully put. It's about humanity. Thank you, on behalf of my little son Alfie, who brings us so much joy, and all of our family. I hope that many people get to see this powerful message.
Thank you for this beautiful and well needed message. My five year old son has Down Syndrome. He has Dreams, a Choice, a Voice and he BELONGS. ("I'm a challenge to your balance, yet balance would not be, with out me.") -Val
Many years ago, I sat next to IZ on a plane ride between islands...he would be very pleased to know that his music lives on to encourage life...I have an absolutely beautiful daughter with DS who will be 10 in May...had I listened to the medical professionals who encouraged termination...I cannot imagine a world without her in it today...she is the light of many lives! Mahalo!
